She wasn’t enrolled in any program, she didn’t attend any class nor take exams, but somehow, everybody knew her name. In every corner of Bulacan State University, she lingered and created smiles from students.
What makes her more extraordinary, is that she has strabismus, a type of eye condition where eyes do not properly align when looking at any object.
Her name was Dokleng, an ordinary stray cat who wandered through university grounds looking for food and shelter.
Dokleng is cold, but she holds a soft spot for the people who took care of her first. Gianne Narciso, the current chairperson of BulSU Bound Tails, said that they had the honor, and gave her the iconic name as well. The cat's home was among the faculty at the ground floor of Federizo Hall, and under BBT's care, Dukleng grew healthier.
A student organization founded for animal welfare, BulSU Bound Tails vows to help cats like Dokleng around the campus. Feeding them, providing shelter, and giving people the opportunity to adopt cats.
They also took the responsibility to vaccinate their cats, and Dokleng was supposed to be the 17th cat to be given a vaccination, but according to Narciso, the starry-eyed cat seemed very anxious.
On June 19, 2025, with the help of faculty, they were able to lure her inside the cage, so that they could bring her to the Provincial Veterinary Office.
“Pero na-underestimate ko si Dokleng” Narcisco said, as when they were nearing the veterinary office, the cat unfortunately opened the cage by herself and jumped out of the cage to escape.
After a series of chasing and hiding, Dokleng was able to lose their eyes on her.
The organization went to the National Bureau of Investigation to check the CCTV footage, in which they discovered that Dokleng dashed to a nearby car, away from the student group. Bound Tails held hope that the cat would come back.
It has been five months since Dukleng went missing.
Up until now, there is still no reliable lead on her whereabouts.
“I am willing to spend 3,000 pesos just to find Dokleng,” Narciso demanded. Taking the incentives from his own pocket, for the sake of the missing cat.

Despite the lack of funds, the organization is willing to protect the strays beyond their resources, pushing the projects for the sake of the animal community—proving just how loved the cats are in the student community.
