Archdioceses across the Philippines, including Pampanga and Manila, alongside the Diocese of Malolos, have spoken out regarding the flood control issues, stating that the nation is currently sunken in corruption.
The Archdiocese of San Fernando, Pampanga, has issued a circular instructing all churches to hold a province-wide noise barrage by ringing their bells at exactly 6:00 PM on September 17.
In a Facebook post, the archdiocese called for the simultaneous ringing of bells in parish churches and chapels, with the duration to be determined by each parish priest.
“This call to action serves as an opportunity for us to unite in prayer and solidarity, striving for a just and transparent government,” they said.
Meanwhile, the Roman Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Episcopal Commission on Social Action, Justice, and Peace / Caritas Philippines also issued a statement last September 14, saying they will join other Non-Government Organizations (NGOs), and communities in the Trillion Peso March at the EDSA Shrine.
“We encourage you to join similar mobilizations in your Archdiocese. For the Archdioceses in and around the greater Metropolitan Manila area,” they emphasized.

Moreover, the Catholic Archdiocese of Manila posted a call on September 16, instructing laypeople to participate in the said march at EDSA.
The date marks the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law, evoking memories of national struggle and the enduring call for justice.
“We do not want the Mass to have the tone of protest, as it may alienate other people who only wish to pray in peace,” wrote Fr. Carmelo P. Arada Jr., Chancellor of the Archdiocese of Manila.
Recently, the Diocese of Malolos has released a statement on September 17, pointing out that the issues surrounding flood control projects go beyond government failure; they represent a moral wrongdoing, as they put lives in danger.
“Tama na ang mga huwad at palpak na imprastraktura! Tama na ang katiwalian!” the Bishop and Priests of the Diocese of Malolos called out.
Caritas Philippines emphasized the importance of remaining grounded in faith, believing that the opportunity to reform and renew both society and government is a grace given by God.
