MALOLOS CITY, Bulacan — Governor Daniel Fernando underscored the alleged corruption behind flood control projects, stating it has put the whole province of Bulacan in the spotlight for the wrong reasons, during his speech at the remembrance of the 127th Malolos Congress anniversary.
Carrying the theme “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan” in Barasoain Church, Vice-Governor Alexis Castro and Mayor Christian Natividad were also present at the commemoration and gave honor and remembrance to the heroes.
According to the Governor, his press response shared how shocked he was about the controversy, as no report from the Department of Railways and Highways (DPWH) in Bulacan had reached his office.
“Wala po akong alam dyan, saan po napunta ang pondo? I honestly don’t know, but I seriously want to know,” he said.
Additionally, Asoc. Justice Mendoza-Arcega encouraged everyone not to be ashamed to be a Bulaceño despite the recent headlines in the province.
“I-isa lamang ito [Bulacan], hindi na ito mabubura sa kasaysayan at pag tinanong sa eskwelahan ano ang unang konstitusyon ng Pilipinas, lagi pong mababanggit ang Malolos sa Bulacan kaya hindi po dapat natin ito ikahiya.”
The guest of honor, Sandiganbayan Associate Justice Maria Theresa Mendoza-Arcega, also spoke about the severe flooding issue in the province.
On the other hand, the province’s representative in Congress, Congressman of the 1st District Danilo Domingo, is absent in the said program.
