In the historic town of Sta. Rita, Pampanga, a collective of dedicated artists, works tirelessly to uphold and celebrate the essence of Kapampangan identity through music, theatre, and the visual arts.

Founded by esteemed composer and cultural advocate Andy Alviz, Arti Sta. Rita has emerged as a cornerstone of regional artistry—seamlessly merging tradition and innovation to preserve and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Kapampangan people.

Through their moving sarswelas and even more powerful folk songs, Arti Sta. Rita embodies Kapampangan pride.

Their live performances do not merely provide entertainment and time to display aesthetic beauty; they share cultural messages that evoke an ever-fading reminder of the depth of one's identity.

Reflection of tradition

Their style is unique amongst the digital distractions of the world, which displace and ignore the authenticity of belonging.

In songs like "Atin Cu Pung Singsing," they revived one of Pampanga's most beloved folk pieces — a symbol of remembering one's roots and honouring one's ancestry.

Traditionally sung for Santa Rita during the Obando Fertility Rites, it reflects the deep faith of the Kapampangans and is often performed as a prayer for a partner.

Meanwhile, "Masayang Kebaitan Keka" captures the warmth of Kapampangan hospitality and unity.

Changing times

However, behind every performance and applause comes an undeniable thread of persistence—the members of Arti Sta. Rita endured the continued long bout of witnessing dwindling theatre audiences, limited funding opportunities, and the underlying pressure of modernization. Yet, they did not give up.

Instead, they turned their stage into a platform for showcasing culture, resisting, and persevering.

Their work entertains the community and educates, connecting multi-generational audiences and stimulating conversations about the importance of preserving one's roots.

This educational aspect of their work leaves the audience feeling enlightened and informed.

Sharing a multi-generational stage

Newer artists share the stage with veterans, allowing knowledge and passion to continue to the next generation.

This shared stage is a testament to the unity and shared purpose within Arti Sta. Rita, where everyone, regardless of their experience, contributes to preserving and promoting Kapampangan culture.

Their work extends beyond the stage by collaborating with local festivals and municipal governments, as their work speaks to the continuity of community life and civic pride.

Every song, every performance, and every story they tell is a love letter to Pampanga.

In a world that often forgets where it came from, Arti Sta. Rita reminds us that culture is not meant to be stored in museums—it must be lived, felt, and shared.

As their melodies continue to echo through time, they ensure that the heartbeat of Kapampangan art will never fade.
